so my first gen iphone was in its rubber case and i dropped it screen first. no damage was done to the phone since the rubber case elevated the phone from making contact with the ground.

after picking it up and pressing the home button to see if it still worked, the screen would not turn on so i hit the power button and that made the screen light up. after trying to call a friend to see if he could help me look the problem up, it turns out my mic didnt work either.

is there any way i can fix this problem? the phone no longer has warranty as far as im aware....

Wow....that sucks. You could try restoring the device. If that doesn't work, I am afraid your iPhone is toast.

if i restore and it doesnt work, i wont be able to unlock it again will i?

could i replace the data connectors in it with a 2g's?

and could i replace the microphone with this?

You probably could.......but that would involve opening the phone, no easy feat, and then you got to take the old mic out, and who know how hard that is. AND THEN, you got to INSERT the new mic, WOW! Seems like too much work for me......but if you wanna do it, go ahead.:D

However, if you have nothing else to do, fixing it would be the only way to solve this problem.

Might as well

If the iPhone is no longer under warranty then you might as well try fixing it yourself. This link may help you in fixing the mic: http://www.youtube.com/user/pdaparts Take a look at some of these videos and it may help you in the repair process. You could try taking it into an Apple store or AT&T store. I would recommend the Apple store, sometimes the Geniuses are really nice or are in the holiday spirit and will try to help, especially if there is no physical damage shown on the iPhone. I wish you my best regards in getting your iPhone fixed. Otherwise you may be able to get 50 to 60 bucks at a place like buymytronics.com

for the home button: is there possibly at least an app that replaces the home button with the same functions?

for the mic: what could i buy to replace the built-in mic with probably an external mic? headphones w/ mic? is there anything just for a mic?
