Up until I saw real close-up pictures for the first time last Friday, I always thought the home button was just a little raised-up button the shape of the white square outline in the middle, set back into the round recess...I didn't actually think the WHOLE recess was the button.

After 6 months of staring at iPhone photos and videos, it now seems a bit strange knowing the button doesn't look like I thought it did.

Am I on my own here?! :p

Maybe I'm going nuts... when I was molesting the iPhone the 'home' button didn't really seem all that recessed. I liked it. It's really intuitive. Like, "Oops, I dunno where I am or how I managed to get to this menu, and er, rather than panic, I'll just hit the home button." :D What?! I'm not very tech-inclined.

no, i always thought it was recessed

I thought the whole CIRCLE was recessed, but then with a small button coming up out of the middle of the recess (basically I thought the little white square WAS the button, with the circle around it also recessed).
