I purchased the mini last week (with Lion) and created my administrator account. After long hours I have been able to figure out how to access my windows pc from the mac and vice versa. Although not continuously because I have to type in the ip address each time. If you know of a better way I would appreciate it, but that is secondary to the following.

I have created users for each member of our home and when I log into their account a finder box pops up and says "The home folder for "user" isn't located in the usual place or can't be accessed. The home or Users folder may have been moved or deleted."

If I go into finder there are no folders except for AirDrop and Applications. If I go to the Devices the hard drive is there with a shared folder I created. When I try to open a video I placed there it says, "You do not have permission to open the document".

I gave full access to the user. Just not administrator access.

Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can start enjoying my first mac.

what you described is is abnormal.

when you create a user account, you should see sub-directories:
Desktop
Documents
Downloads
Movies
Music
Pictures
Public
Sites

i don't see why they would be missing as creating a new user account in os x is a pretty straight-forward process. did you do something in the parental controls to restrict access?
