I lent my computer for someone to use over the week and I find out today that they renamed the Icon in the finder that is a little home (not sure what it's called). Now my whole iTune and iPhoto library (and i suspect the rest of iLIfe) has been erased. Although, I can still see the files on my computer, they will not appear in either of my programs. I can try the "Add to library" option but the files never show up when the pop up menu comes out. Someone please help. What do I have to do to restore my libraries? Thanks

Could you perhaps post a couple of screenshots of what's happening? I think you're saying that someone renamed your user home directory, and maybe this caused the snafu. As for why you can't add new items to your library in iTunes or iPhoto, their pathnames may have gotten messed up in the renaming process. Have you tried repairing permissions once you changed the name of the user directory back to what it was?

What basically happened was that the home directory's name got changed. I then opened my iTunes and iPhoto and my library was erased. I can still find the files although they won't show up when I select the "add to library" option. I'm quite sure it's just a pathname problem as you said. Any idea how I can fix this? When I try renaming it to what it once was it says that the name is "already taken" so I have to put another one. Could this be that I'm logged on as a different user? Thanks

Okay, this article may help name it back (although it looks more complicated than it is) but if not, then just create a new user, navigate to your old Home folder and drag the contents to this new user. :)
