My Mac and PC share a network at home...

I want to transfer files from the PC to the Mac. I can't remember how to go into Finder and make it recognize the PC.

Please help.

I'm transferring MP3's from the PC to the Mac now. Does it seem about right that it would take 30 minutes to transfer 15 Gigs of songs? It seems kinda slow to me, I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong.

That's about right. For faster access, try enabling FTP. Of course, it also depends on the speed of your general connection.

Yea, the cable quality, length, location and the router use all make a difference. Going through my wall wires across the house I get about 10Mbs but when I directly connected my PowerBook to my PowerMac with a good quality 2ft ethernet cord I got about almost 100Mbs, that is partial because they both have gigabit-ethernet cards in them.

Go into System Preferences > Sharing > Tick the FTP checkbox

Your FTP details:

Host: name of your mac (or internal IP assigned by the router)
User: your mac logon name
Pass: your password

Then download a free FTP client for Windows so you can connect to your mac and copy the files over. http://www.smartftp.com is good.

15gigs and 30 minutes are you using ethernet or wireless. it's actually not that bad (imagine if you had to burn all that stuff on dvd and import it again). It's a lot of information you are transfering there. Let us know how much improvement you are getting with FTP enabled.
