so i installed 4.0 successfully on the 3g last night and when i go to set the home screen wallpaper, it only saves it to the lock screen. So far, i have been able to do every other feature (except multitasking of course) perfectly...
Any Ideas?
Thanks

Homescreen wallpaper is only allowed on the iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3g 32 and 64gb, and the iPad. The 3G and 2nd Gen iPod Touch do not have homescreen wallpapers nor multitasking. The 1st Gen iPhone and 1st Gen iPod Touch do not get the 4.0 update at all.

Incorrect. Someone else stated that they had emailed Apple about not being able to change the wallpaper on his iPod Touch 2G and they said it was a bug and they are working on it.

My mistake. The poster didn't email Apple, but had found that Apple had acknowledged the issue and will fix it.

I'm on an iPod 2G and can't change my homescreen wallpaper. I searched around and found out that apple has acknowledged the issue and will fix it in a coming update.

OP, you should have searched, there are multiple threads already on this topic. I'm surprised they all haven't been merged yet.
This appears to be the most prevalent one:
