I had an Apple TV attached to my Home app but this was never used in the past. We recently got a smart heating system and all the thermostats are now attached in my Home app.

My partner recently bought a HomePod mini and has attached that to his home app. We plan to get more HomePod minis for across the home.

This was initially confusing because in my Home app the main home was called My Home and in his Home app it was also called My Home - and then when we each invited the other two have access to those accessories we had two homes called ‘My Home’!

We’ve renamed his home ‘HomePods’ and mine ‘Heating’ .. with the intention of him registering all the future HomePods

Is this the right approach?

Can we have one shared home with all the devices showing on it?

Or do we need to have multiple homes shared between us both?

Total new Home user (OK technical ability) and want to get this right from the start!

Thanks for any help

Essentially the "allegiance" to Home is an iCloud account. You have to pick one. Home does allow multiple users to be invited by the originator. To me, it does not make sense to use multiple accounts, since you want all devices to show up in Home apps on both of your devices.
This is unless you do not want your partner to fiddle with the thermostats remotely.
