Home Sharing

so i have Ubuntu on my desktop pc and macbook as my laptop,and an ipad and iphone,so i want to enable sharing my linux and macbook and also need to have access from ipad or iphone,should i change the router settings?also is it possible to login to my home pc from somewhere else using my macbook?thanks in advance
i have connected my home pc to the router via ethernet,and using macbook via wireless.. any help would be much aprreciate guys

Your still thinking only operation systems! You best bet would be a NAS like ones from Synology and put all shareable files on that so both computers can access it!

Hmm,yeah probably that will be a good idea too,i was thinking about getting a NAS but still can't go for it,for the moment i just wanted to try and see how a networking like this help me out and learn from it
