Today I'm beginning my search for home theater speakers. I have everything else in place, all I need is a good sound system.

My plan: Hang the rear speakers on the wall behind the couch, have front speakers on tall stands on the floor and the center under the TV.

I don't need tons of features, I just want a very simple system with excellent sound that works with the tv. If possible, I'd like to control the volume from a wall mounted panel near the back speakers.

5.1 system
Optical In
Wireless rear speakers
Simple, straightforward design (no bells and whistles)
Price range: $200 to $500

What I'm looking for in short: Beautiful design, great sound, inconspicuous.

I look forward to your suggestions :D

I should mention that this would be my main sound system in the living area of my apartment. I already have Airport Expresses and stereo speakers in the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom for ambient music.

Logitech z-5500

I have just purchased the Logitech z-5500 speaker system. I am very happy with them. you should have a look.

Those Logitech look really good but I think I'd need to run the rear speakers wired, which unfortunately won't work for me. I have a wide open bare floor between the couch and the TV. I can't run the cables under a carpet or rug. This is why I need wireless rear speakers. I have power on the wall where they'll go though.

For a wired home theater system in that price range check out:
1) Harman Kardon HKTS-18
2) Polk audio RM85

I don't know about wireless speaker setups though.
