Does anyone know of a way to use HomeKit light switches without being signed into iCloud? We have a few Leviton wall switches and WeMo outlets, but I’m looking for a way to continue using the remote functionality (just at home) without having devices signed into iCloud. Is there a 3rd party bridge or similar available that can make this work? Maybe present a webpage with controls and statuses that can be accessed by any device with a web browser?
You can't use Homekit but you may be able to use apps from your devices' vendors to access these smart devices remotely. Personally I trust smart device vendors' abilities to make secure remote interfaces much less than I trust iCloud.

If you aren't comfortable using iCloud, how are you comfortable using smart home devices? Just seems like a weird line to draw.

It sounds like you don’t know that you can turn off iCloud backups. I’ve never used it and backup locally. You’d also want to avoid using iCloud mail, photos, drive. Not sure what else, but if you want to avoid everything just in case, more power to you.

But not using end-to-end encrypted HomeKit with a few incidental devices that don’t show any patterns and don’t store data because you haven’t turned off iCloud Backups is an interesting line in the sand to draw.
