Is there a way to set a homepage on the Ipad/Safari? I made it an Icon on the desktop. Couldn't find an answer in the manual. manual.

Nope. Easier way may be to add a bookmark to the book mark to avoid having to add a screen icon.

I was wondering the same thing, seems strange there is no way to have a home page, since its been a standard feature on every web browser made for the past 15 years. I'm not sure the philosophical reason Apple doesn't want home pages, but I'm guessing steve jobs could give some reason.

I have never thought about it. However, I'm very please that the bookmark doesn't pop up when I have an empty page from the start. It's pretty annoying on my iPhone 3GS (3.1.3).

In a way you can set a homepage. Just save your favorite website as an icon on your homescreen. Then, any time you want to enter the browser use that icon and you'll always load up that page first. ;)

If this doesn't work, then go back to post #1 by the OP. (I'm sorry, but this was just too good to pass up.)

I'm guessing there is no "Home Page" because mobile safari loads the last page you were on when you closed it. (I should note I'm using the iPhone as an example as I have no iPad yet. Maybe that's not the case on the iPad.)

On the desktop if you close safari it doesn't go back to the last page open. I can see where a home page could be useful though, as a quick link I guess.

There's no excuse for not allowing a set homepage.

That's what Rev. 2 (or B, or w/e you want to call it) is for. ;) :D :p

I'm sure someone will be with you shortly to chide you for mentioning a downside to an iPad.

I'm w/ you on that one. Then again, this is the same company that still doesn't offer a flash for the camera in 2010 and only NOW will offer multi-taking in mobile OS. lol
