Hi, I have a HomePod mini that works perfectly with Apple TV 4k gen 3.

However, when using it as an audio output on the Macbook Pro 15" 2017, the experience is not the best. There is a delay at certain points and it goes silent for a few seconds on YouTube, and the audio is choppy on Apple Music.

Is this because the version of Airplay on the Mac model you're using is old? I've seen more recent comments that appear to affect even newer Macs. The main benefit is just the bass, because otherwise the speakers on the 15-inch Mac are excellent with crystal-clear treble.

Looks like you're not the only one with a similar issue:
They're suggesting to install the latest software on the HomePod - hope you've done it.
Are you running Mac OS Sonoma with the latest updates as well?

Yes, it was the first thing I did, connected HomePod to the Mac and updated to the latest version. The Mac stopped at Ventura, to use Sonoma only by OCLP that even enables other AirPlay functions.

Another option is to use AirPlay directly on YouTube or Apple Music, without going through the control center. I'll try later.

If you're open to it, go straight to Sequoia via OCLP. However, you might spend a lot of time installing it and have the same result...

Sequoia is a new system, while Sonoma is very stable. It even seems that it officially runs on MBP 2017, because you don't need to apply any additional Kexts by the post-install option.

I'll test AirPlay directly in the apps instead of setting HomePod as audio output, and I'll tell you.

@Andrey84 I did the test and sent the sound directly through Apple Music and there were no crashes. The problem occurs when you set HomePod as the audio output in the control center. But it's random, last time it was defined and it didn't present problems. But it is a feature that I will use very little, because I already have Apple TV 4K and I use it to consume streaming, IPTV...
