I know that HomePod will be able to answer phone calls but it will be able to handle calls himself? I'm out of home and I would like to call home, in this case make a call to the HomePod and someone in home could answer it. Using Facetime calls.

No HomePod will not be able to handle calls by itself. You can only handoff a call from your phone to use as a speaker phone.
