I just got a HomePod a few days ago, and while I love the sound (no problem with reduced bass on 11.3), it sometimes pauses songs randomly when played from a playlist. This happens at the beginning of a song, after 1 or 2 seconds, and when I say “hey Siri, play”, it will continue from where it stops. Strangely this is not an issue when I play songs from a radio or specific albums, or via AirPlay. It can be as frequent as every other song, so a bit annoying. I tried resetting it but it doesn’t help. I don’t think it’s a problem with my internet connection since streaming Apple Music via other devices like Apple TV or iPhone is absolutely fine.

I’ve spoken to Apple tech advisors who will report this issue to their engineers, and hopefully will call me back with a solution. But in the meantime, has anyone encountered this problem and manage to fix it?

Haven't experienced that issue with ours, but I have noticed that using HP to control smart switches provides varying degrees of success. I can use my watch to tell Siri to turn on a light, and it may or may not work and may be immediate or may take awhile.

I can tell HP to turn on a light and she answers with, "Sorry, I can't seem to find the bedroom light." Do it on my iPhone and get an immediate response. It is like I am dealing with three different Siris!

Mine hasn't paused in the middle of a song, but it has paused between songs a couple of times. I'm going to guess it will be sorted in time.

Yeah mine never paused in the middle of a song, it's always in between songs. The Apple tech advisor has been in touch with me asking for more info to pass to their engineers, but so far no solution yet. And since I'm within 14 days of purchasing it, he also suggested that I exchange it for a new one...

Interesting. I’m certainly outside of the return window. If you don’t return it, I’d love to know what the engineers have to say about it.

Edit: as soon as I posted this mine played about two notes from a Weezer song and then stopped. :(

I have the opposite issue. When I pause by touch or by asking verbally it will stop playing for a moment and then resume after a few seconds. It doesn't happen often, but it is really irritating when it does

I had similar problems, after a few restarts I removed the HP from my setup and then added it again, it solved the problem. However I had a few minutes of stuttering sound today, but that could have been down to wifi problems in the house.

Mine occasionally stops playing when listening to Beats 1 radio. We leave it on when we go out for the dog, but sometimes we’ll get home to find it’s stopped. We have smart devices at home like a camera and lights which don’t ping at all to tell us they’re offline, so the WiFi dropping as a whole is unlikely.

My HP has stopped a few times but only when I asked Siri "Hey Siri, create a station from this song". Hasn't happened while playing playlists or albums.

I’m convinced it’s an AirPlay issue for me. When requesting via voice I never have issues.

I went to the Apple Store earlier to exchange the HomePod. Unfortunately I couldn’t replicate the issue in store, so the Apple specialist wasn’t convinced that my HomePod was faulty, so I ended up taking it back home with me. We literally sat down for half an hour listening to it and no pause at all, it was perfect!

Just to update. After the trip to the Apple store, i thought all is well with my HomePod. Unfortunately the next day, the same issue resurfaced. Plus it developed a new issue-it can’t connect to my TV via AirPlay anymore, and even Airplay from my iPhone was buggy. So I decided to return it.

I’m already missing the great sound of the HomePod, so will definitely buy it again once they fix this connectivity issues, which hopefully will happen soon.
