Hello,

I'm reaching out with an issue regarding two HomePod minis that I have paired in stereo mode.

The night before last, around 4:00 AM, both HomePods started playing music on their own. After manually stopping the playback, it resumed again about 10 minutes later. Since I work night shifts as a designer, I began troubleshooting right away – I checked the network, and eventually initiated a software update.

During the update, one of the HomePods unexpectedly entered recovery mode and began looping a voice message instructing me to hold my finger on the device until I heard three beeps. I did so, but it had no effect. After about 30 minutes, the device rebooted on its own, and I was able to pair it back with the other HomePod into a stereo pair.

However, after I went to sleep, the issue repeated – the HomePods turned on by themselves, and the problematic one once again entered recovery mode for no apparent reason. I connected it to my Mac, downloaded a 3.64 GB update, and restored it. But once reconnected to power, it again fell into recovery mode, repeating the same cycle.

I then tried restoring the second (working) HomePod as well, and everything went smoothly. But the problematic unit continues to reset itself even after multiple full restores, with no clear cause. It pairs normally, but soon afterward resets again and the cycle starts over.

Since the device is out of warranty, I’d like to ask if there's any way to fix this, or if it's better to consider replacing it entirely. I’d be truly grateful for any help, advice, or guidance you can offer.

Thank you very much,
Jirka
