Hi All,

I have Sonos in my house at the moment in pretty much every room.
I'm hoping to get a HomePod and put it into my kitchen, the only thing stopping me is the integration with my Sonos system. Im hoping that I will be able to add the homePod into the system and almost have it as another Sonos speaker. So when I speak to Siri on the HomePod and ask it to play music in the kitchen (HomePod), living room (Sonos SoundBar) and bedroom (Sonos Play:5) it will work.

Do you think this can happen or will happen in the future?

Cheers,

Mike

I think Sonos might add AirPlay 2 only to the play 5 and the new sonos 1. Not the old play 1s.. (hope I got the naming correctly).

I don‘t think adding Airplay will make the Sonos and the HomePod compatible. I also don‘t expect HomePod to be able to stream airplay to another device.

I'm guessing that if/when Airplay 2 releases on the Sonos, you can Airplay to a Homepod/Sonos combo from your device, but as @ericwn mentions, I doubt it'll enable the Sonos to be an "extended" speaker for the Homepod directly (just a wild guess).

And yes, as @chfilm points out, Sonos is being deliberately cagey whether the Sonos 1s (not the new Ones) will support Airplay 2 which will be a bummer if true...
