Anyone who got a pair of HomePods stereo and the new AirPods Max who can compare the sound quality differences.

So far I have the two HomePods for stereo and they sounds awesome (if using Tidal or Apple Music), and even though you can't truly compare it to headphones I want to know the differences and if they basically are HomePods on go a little like the MacBook Pro 16.

If you’re going for purely sound, the two homepod pair is probably better IMO in a quick test I just did with two songs. It’s extremely hard to compare though because my room might not be optimal for the HomePods and I can’t crank the volume as loud or else the wife would murder me lol. Sorry it’s not very helpful but the AirPods Mac don’t disappoint in sound. Just two very different uses between speakers and headphones, especially when you have ANC/transparency mode thrown in the mix.

I've been switching between the two since nobody else has been home. The best way I would describe it is the HomePods take a sledgehammer approach to music, while the AirPods take a scalpel approach. The HomePods boom and are a riot, but a lot of small details are lost since there's just so much energy. However, with the AirPods, you kind of hear a lot of details you generally miss with the HomePods, and it just feels more clear. I dunno, it's hard to compare.
