Hey guys. Back on iOS4 I had my phone jailbroken and installed the CarbonX HD theme which put a bookmark to their website on my homescreen. Also, I put a FaceTime shortcut to my girlfriend on my homescreen screen. I un-jailbroke without deleting them first and they've been on my homescreen ever since. I delete the icons but they keep coming back after I sync! (The CarbonX bookmark never deleted even when I was still jailbroken...) I think they're saved on my backups or something even though I keep deleting them. Is there any way to delete these for good? I'm getting a 4S next month and I'm sure they'll be on there too when I restore from my iCloud backup and its not worth it to me to set it up as a new phone. Any help is appreciated!

Same here. Any progress in finding a salution? I've restored my phone and it's still there. I've deleted it over and over again, but it's still there. Has anyone had any luck removing the icon from the bookmarks?

Have you tried deleting them directly from your Webclip folder? Or try deleting them with itunes and not directly on your phone?

My iPhone is no longer jailbroken and I'm on iOS 5.0.1. I went to my iTunes and I can't find the icon under apps so that I can delete it there. I used Tinyumbrella when it was jailbroken under 4.3.2, but I don't see how I can remove it from there either. I was told to go to Win SCP for my Windows computer to delete it from my webclips, but when I search for it iTunes pops up. Any suggestions?

Did you try erasing all content and settings? Then restoring your phone.. That'll tell you if it's part of your back up..

What do you mean by erasing all content and settings? I've restored the phone and I thought that would delete everything and I could start off new, but that's not the case.

I had this same problem with the CarbonX HD icon. The icon remained even after updating from iOS4 to 5, and it was there before jailbreaking. I think I found a solution. SSH into your phone and go to /private/var/mobile/Library/WebClips. Even after deleting the icon from your home screen, its files persist in this directory. Just delete the CarbonX directory in this WebClips directory, and it shouldn't come back.

Thank you Willdude! I jailbroke my iPhone today and I SSH into my phone. It looks as though it worked. I'm glad to finally get that icon off of my phone for good. Thanks again.

hi guys,
I have the same problem, but I don't know how to SSH into my phone, which is not jail-broken anymore. Can anyone help me delete the annoying icon? thanks a lot

P.S. check this out!!!

First you have to jailbreak the phone for that. The SSH is not that complicated but here is an easy way.
After you jailbreak your phone go to cydia an try to find an app that is called iFile. It's not free but check in installus or any other source if you can find it for free. I bought it because it's a very usefull app. Anyway, just install this app and go to /private/var/mobile/Libray/WebClips. In there delete the carbonx file like our friend said before. It worked for me and i did it using the phone and without SSH. Ohh btw when you open the app for the first time or every time you stop running the app ( not jus by pressing the home botton instead closing it using the multi task app bar by pressing twice the home botton) it will open on the var file by default. So just follow the rest of the path mobile/Library/WebClips. ✌##

iFile is free for trying out, you just need to register if you want the advanced functions (and if you want to support developing jailbreak apps).

I know this is old but I got it!!!

So I stumbled across a way to delete the persistent shortcut while I was trying to free up some space on my MacBppk. Apparently if you delete an app from your iPhone it still stays burried on your computer. This goes for some JB apps as well. I noticed it when I saw old apps I deleted months ago still in a folder. Here is the path:

Users
Your home disk
Music
iTunes
Mobile Applications

Search for and delete ModMyI

After I did that the pesky CarbonX HD has not been back. I've done 3 reboots just to make sure! Hope this works for all of you guys! :)
