I wonder if those who have purchased the 130 chip are satisfied or do they wish they had waited for the 4850?
Hopefully, there will be responses and honest ones to this question as the wait and uncertainty (delivery and performance) for the 4850 is making a fool out of Apple IMHO.

We don't know until 4850 starts ship. Then we get benchmarks and other important information about it.

Exactly my point. Delay, uncertainty, and lack of information doesn't create good customers. However, those that have the 130 should be able to offer an opinion about their satisfaction with it and if it does all they want it to do.

My satisfaction level is very low due dead and stuck pixels in my iMac. Other wisely it has been perfect.

GT 130 and Radeon 4850 have no effect on whether you have a dead pixel - there's no relationship between video card and dead pixels.

Of course I know that but I'm so sick of sending it back again and again. GT130's and 4850's difference isn't very big so go for GT130

happy here runs fine

BTW i know this means naff all but bootcamp vista give me 5.6 overhaul,

its the 2.93 cpu that is the 5.6 ever thing else is 5.9 my old dell xps with two nvidia 8800 gt 750 mb cards in sli only gave 5.7 with the hard ( raid 0 ) giving the 5.7 with every thing else at 5.9 ( this is with a 15 % OC and howling fans )

the IMac just purs after 2 hours gaming in vista

GT130 has been a disappointment.

I'd like to have some back up for that comment. ATI will be mobile and benchmarks shows that GT130 and 4850 mobile are almost similar, GT130 even does better in some cases.

We don't need 1000th thread about this issue...

Given the way forums work, the lack of response seems to indicate most are satisfied with the 130. I'll take that. Thanks for the effort.

I have been using a 130 for about two weeks now. Most heavy work on the card involves playing WoW. It is consistently getting great frame rates.

It can't be said they are going to perform the same since no benchmarks have been done, and we also STILL don't know FOR 100% SURE that the 4850 is the mobility or desktop version. While power consumption points to the mobility, no one is 100% sure since Apple has not come out and posted it. When ppl call Apple, most have received the answer it's the desktop version (thereby likely blowing the 130 out of the water) including me when I asked.

No one knows anything--but for the most part, 130 owners have been happy with their purchase.

Yes, totally agree.

Don't mind what Hellhammer said, he just keeps contradicting himself, first he said "We don't know until 4850 starts ship. Then we get benchmarks and other important information about it." then claimed GT 130 and 4850 are the same in term of performance.

If you didn't notice, he just went to every single thread similar to this one, someone asked if GT130 is good enough, if 4850 is worth waiting, he'd just say the same: Get the GT130, the performance gain is negligible. Yes, it might be, but what's wrong with saying "should be" instead of is?

Taking driver and hardware quality into consideration, I personally like Ati more than Nvidia. Not that I expect to see 4850 in the new iMac turns out to be desktop version, but I am really tired of people stating speculations as facts.

Do the 130's run notably hotter than the integrated 9400's?

I am confused as to why this would be relevant to a desktop such as the Imac. If apple (the king of erring on the side of caution) would make this a factory upgrade, then I am sure the operational temp of the 130 would be well within safe (under stressed) limits.

I think my 130 does not get warmer than 62° Celsius (=~143 Fahrenheit). Now if someobdy with a 9400 posts his top temps...

You beat me dude! Okay, we all know that 4850 will be the best one of course. But we don't know how much, 5%? 10%? 30%?

I go to bed before I make myself totally embarrassed, it's almost 2 am here in Finland and I have to wake up at 6.30 am.

Folks, it's pretty simple. When the 4850 is finally released, we'll be able to see how it performs against the 130. There's nothing else to see here, please move along...

my GT130 (when it worked) gave me a 5.9 in Vista64

For what it's worth, I have the 3.06GHz with the GT 130. I was going to wait, but glad I didn't wait for the ATI card. I LOVE THE GT 130. I have nothing to compare it to, and I don't play games or do a lot of video editing. But this card and iMac are wonderful.

I can use Aperture, iPhoto, iMovie, Photoshop, etc with no problems. I have no performance complaints, esp. not where the graphics card is concerned. YouTube videos in HQ play wonderfully (where as they played horribly in standard mode on my PowerBook with tons of RAM). Netflix movies play great, Hulu plays great, Understudy works in Front Row, and Front Row is awesome. I can play many movies at once in different windows and applications without any problems.

Unless you do heavy movie editing or heavy gaming (both of which I know nothing about), go ahead and get the GT 130! I have no regrets about not waiting for a SLIGHTLY better graphics card. Buy it and enjoy.

I Also have been told by Apple rep it will be the desktop version . (ATI.HD.4850)
And before i ordered my replacement after four months of freeze up issues with my previous Imac,The rep said the ATI card will blow the Gt130 away.

Im happy with it.. Does all i need. if you do play Heavy games id go for the 4850 option but if like me all ya play is WoW then its perfect. I can play WoW on Max res with all but shadows on Max... Looks Amazing!! :D

I can't wait till the 4850's ship, and if they ARE the desktop versions they are going to be so good, the 130 won't compare.
