What’s up guys, I literally made this account to go off on a tangent about the issues my brand new iPhone is having. I usually just read when it comes to things like forums. It takes a ****ton for me to go out of my way to make an account to do all this.

I just bought a new iPhone 8 two weeks ago. It was working perfectly fine for about 2 days. The 3rd day from then until now, this problem happens just about every single day.

The haptics just stops working. Everything, even the home button goes completely mute, it’s supposed to vibrate when you press on it but the haptics isn’t there. Speakers don’t work. Phone lags when somebody calls you, or when you call them. This happens all at once too by the way... Have to restart the phone to TEMPORARILY fix the problem. It comes back, sometimes even in multiple occurrences a day.

Brought it to the apple store. Of ****ing course, the problem wasn’t there when they were checking it. Guy at Genius Bar plugged it up to a dock to run some analysis on the speaker system and haptics system. Came back as “no issues found” (obviously when the problem isn’t happening at the time, it’s an intermittent problem). They said there’s nothing they could do. “Even if the problem was there, we could send it somewhere I forgot(?) where they’ll try to diagnose the problem and we’ll give you an iPhone 6S to use in the meantime”. Man **** all of that, I’ve done research and have read that hundreds of people have had this same problem since last year. So if the Genius Bar seems confused to this “new” problem then they obviously have not fixed or addressed the issue yet.

So now I’m stuck with a phone that messes up on a daily occasion. No, I have not dropped my phone because I’m extremely careful with my devices. And yes, I have checked my settings and made sure the correct functions are switched to on. Lol, I guess it really is just my luck but every iPhone I’ve had so far has had some weird issue where I had to take it back to apple (to which they give me a brand new replacement, or they fix the problem for free).

Sounds like there are some software issues. Restore your phone as new. Not from a backup.

Hey, yes I tried restoring my phone as new too. Problem still persists. Tried everything. And I’m also pretty sure turning your phone on and off multiple times a day isn’t good for the device... maybe it isn’t, but still it’s very frustrating and annoying when I’m using my phone, then OUT OF THE BLUE, the problem just happens. Phone becomes completely useless unless you reset the phone (hard reset or soft reset, tried both).

Are you still within your return window?

It’s 2 weeks old. I would imagine it is still within the return window? But the guy at the Genius Bar said it’s not...

Ok, well within the return window or not. New devices have 1 year warranty, if your device has some weird issue then they give you a brand new replacement (yes I have had this experience MULTIPLE times. A device has some weird thing going on with it and they give me a new phone free of charge)...

The problem is that this issue doesn’t come up when I need it to (like when I’m at the apple store), I don’t have the time to be sitting around waiting for it to occur, you know? Plus on top of that, they said they have never heard of this issue before... I know I am not the only one dealing with it, so that’s odd they don’t know what the problem is. You would think it’d have been addressed by now.

Bring it to other service center. A second, third opinion will be great specifically that your phone is just new.

You could be right. I’m gonna try that this upcoming week.
Thanks, happy holidays.

Sorry for your luck. Maybe next time it happens don’t touch the phone and drive there and show them.

I would have returned the device especially if it happened on day 3.

Yeah thanks, I’m gonna try that this upcoming week. Set up an appointment at another service center, wait for the problem to happen, then drive there. It’s still a hassle because they’re gonna take the phone somewhere to see what the problem is...

Record what it’s doing. It was the only way I got Apple to replace my iPhone 7 that had a speaker issue that their diagnositics couldn’t fine.

Buy AppleCare+

At this point your best bet

No it's not. Credit cards with extended warranty exist. Only reason to buy AC+ is for accidental damage and nothing else. Citibank offers 24 months of extended warranty over the initial 12 months. CapitalOne(via Mastercard/VISA),Chase,Amex all offer 12 extra months. There is Zero reason to buy AC+ unless you are going naked and are worried about breaking your phone.

Have you used any of these services? How was your experience? Genuinely asking.

Yes. iPhone power button broke about 1.5 years into ownership. Warranty ends at 1 year. Credit card doubles that, it was covered by them.

Took iPhone to Apple Store and paid for "repair" (which was really $200 for swapping to a refurb). Filed claim with credit card which is basically this: Filled out claim form, printed original dated receipt (from email), printed dated repair receipt (from email), printer mfr warranty terms, printed credit card statement from appropriate month and highlighted iPhone purchase. A couple of weeks later I got a check from the credit card company for $200.

Interesting. I didn’t know that was one way of getting your device replaced.

The previous posters have told me to bring it back when it’s happening. But here’s the thing. They can’t diagnose the problem that I’m having. Like I said in my initial post, the Genius Bar guy said, “I’ve never heard of this issue before. All the tests are saying it’s fine right now. If it happens again, you can take it back and we’ll send it to a lab(?) and we’ll let you borrow a 6S.”

What you’re saying is your home button broke, apple understood what the problem was, they repaired it, and the credit card company covered the bill.

Ok... well, for my issue... fix what?? My problem is apparently unknown, they don’t even know wtf the problem is. I’d have to get the phone sent to some place to get it checked out.

I was answering stafil's question. It doesn't apply to your situation.
