See the large white holding panel with holes behind the monitor. I saw this at IKEA yesterday. If I get this, can I hook a monitor like this on that holding stand ?

personally I wouldn’t risk to mount a 17.6kg monitor on that Skådis-hardboard. Why not use the included VESA mount and hook it to a wall?

I didn't realize that hardboard couldn't handle that weight load.

I thought if I could hook the monitor to the hardboard I would be able to move it around when needed - like for cleaning or something.

I have been thinking about doing this and adding a support frame around the skadis for reinforcement and strength.

you can get pegboards made from steel (in different colors) which are probably much more able to support a large monitor.
