hook my MBP to the tv????

You'll need cords to go along with it.
If you want to use the red/white/yellow plugs, you'll need a matching composite cord.
If you have a plug that looks like this (better quality):
Then you'll want an S-Video cord.
You can get the cords almost anywhere that sells electronics.
