Hooking computer up to TV

I recently bought a 47" hd tv and would like to be able to watch things like hulu and YouTube ect. on it. I have a couple different ideas of how to do this and would like to know what yall think. Im also considering buying a macbook pro because im needing a new laptop.
Here are my ideas:
1. macbook pro with hdmi output. Would this output 1080p? Im in the market for a new laptop so this option would save me money.
2. Home theater pc built custom
3. Wait for new apple tv to come out.

It's the cheapest option if you get a laptop anyway, as you only need to buy an appropriate adapter at www.monoprice.com.
