So I'm helping someone at work with this. They simply want to transfer some photos and a video from their iPhone to their Windows 7 desktop. They don't have iTunes on the desktop, we are just trying to plug the phone in with a lightning to USB cable, open file explorer, and drag and drop.

Problem is, when you plug the phone in, it will start charging, ask you on the phone if you "trust" the PC, and then if you hit yes start installing the drivers. Once installed though, no file explorer screen pops up, and the phone doesn't show up under file explorer.

His phone is on iOS 11. Another co-workers iPhone is on iOS10, and she is able to do the above scenario and have it work correctly on her desktop (without iTunes), and his desktop. His phone doesn't work on either desktop. Only difference is her phone is on iOS10 and his is 11.

So is this a bug in iOS11? Did apple remove the ability to do this in iOS11? I really don't want to deal with iTunes for simply transferring photos and videos, it would overcomplicate things for the end user. I'm also aware of iCloud, but having to transfer large videos from the phone to iCloud, then to the PC is not nearly as simple as drag and drop over a wired usb connection.

So wondering if anyone else with iOS11 has been able to do this or has any suggestions. I've done this in the past with my personal phone, but not for a while. Thanks!
