I currently have my Mini hooked up to my 27 inch cinema display but want to eventually hook it up to my TV to use Plex. Do I need to unhook the mini display cable for the HDMI cable to work?

It is pretty necessary to know what Mac Mini you have. The early 2009 minis would require a MDP to HDMI and a TOS Link cable for sound. HDMI did not allow sound to passthrough on that Mini. Newer minis are different.

Just tried that and "enjoy the sound of silence" ... And my Sony Bravia don't have TOS. Why companies do that all the time ? All of them ... Ok, I know: ¥€$

But that the reason to buy a new Mini ?

I do MDP to HDMI and a mini tos link to optical audio. 2009 Mac Mini.

An HDMI cable will be able transfer sound to your TV. You can select sound output source from "system preference-sound" after connecting your mini to your TV.

Thanks! Do I need to unplug my mini display port cable in order for it to show or will it mirror my Cinema Display it's hooked up to?
