I know that I need a mini-DVI to DVI cable from Apple for the video, but what do I need to get the audio to play through my TV?

Also, is there a trick to getting the TV to act as my monitor and being able to close my MB lid?

As far as I know, there is no audio on the DVI port (MB or MBP).

To use it in clamshell mode, it needs to be plugged in to a/c and an external keyboard attached (wired or BT).

In order to have sound your TV will need an audio in and you will probably need something like a 1/8" to RCA audio cable. Otherwise you can plug it into speakers and use your speakers and the TV and just turn the TV volume off.

you do have the ability to produce high quality sound from your MB. There is a optical audio out built into the headphone plug. You just require a toslink adapter to get the sound out of it and into a format that a optical ready receiver can play
