Hooking up a monitor to my mac pro?

Im wanting to hook a monitor up to my mac book pro and be able to have things go on my mac book pro screen and the monitor what is the easiest way to do this?

Well the MacBook uses a thunderbolt display port (which is just really an advanced MiniDisplay port). So it really just depends what your monitor allows as to what connector/cables you need.
