So i have the new I7 Imac.

I have a Duet and a Powered G drive. The Duet takes firewire 400 and the GDrive takes fire wire 800. But my imac only has one firewire 800 port.

So....... am i able to run my duet daisy chain off my g drive?

it would be like this

Duet--(FW400)-->Gdrive--(FW800)--> Imac.

Is this going to cause any issues for my duet or my imac?(power and performance wise)???

so you hook up your duet to the 2 tb g drive and there is no slow down?

There is a slow-down... both drives will step down to f400...
Glad to hear it is working for you. Ordering my i7 tonight, and I am adding an external Western 4tb quad interface drive. I have a bunch of f400 drives I was to daisy chain them off the 4tb drive.

well there will be, but you said your duet has firewire 400?
if you hook the duet up to the gdrive which is connected to the computer like this

duet - FW400 - g-drive - FW800 - iMac

your duet will be limited to 400mbit due to the restriction on the cable, this will also consume 400mbit from the imac to the g-drive, but since the g-drive is connected to the iMac by FW800 you still have an additional 400mbit left for the g-drive, thus resulting in 400mbit connection for both drives, simultaneously.
this setup will achieve speeds faster then USB to both drives at the same time.

ok. So there should be no issue with sound quality or hd performance.

great!
