I have the original version of the Macbook Air, the one with the micro DVI port not the mini display port. I would like to hook the Macbook Air up to my 50" HDTV. I have the micro DVI-DVI adaptor that came with the Macbook Air. I want to get a DVI to HDMI cable.
Will this one work?

What kind of picture quality can I expect? I was planning on watching movies from the Macbook Air to the HDTV.

Thanks.

The reviews for that cable suggest it should work well for you.

Does your TV have a DVI input? A TV of that size usually does.

Do you have a solution for audio (you know the cable won't carry audio to the TV, right?).

Picture quality should be as good as the source video will allow. DVI is esentially HDMI without sound.

Actually I just looked at the back of the TV and it does have a PC input. It doesn't look like a DVI input though. Would it be a VGA input?
I guess I was under the assumption hooking up to HDMI would be better.
As far as sound goes, I plan on hooking a mini-RCA to my receiver for sound. Unless of course anyone else has a better alternative?

Ok, if it's VGA as opposed to DVI then you want to go with the cable that you've posted. As for sound, I don't know of a better setup for the air given its limited ports.

Will the Macbook Air work as well as a Mac Mini to serve as a Media Center? In the past I have owned an AppleTV so I have alot of movies in iTunes. I know there have been alot of threads about using a Mac Mini as a Media Center. Since I have a Macbook Air and not a Mac Mini I am hoping the Air will serve the purpose.

What do you think?

Honestly, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work just fine. Clamshell mode should allow you to be able to do anything you want it to as if it were a mini.
