hehe... ijust looked at that like 10 minutes ago. I was trying to find a comparison of nvidia 8X00 to ati HD 2X00 cards
 
It sucks that there is no "real" information about the cards on the site. But at least we know they 100% officially exist.

HD2600XT for performance notebooks,
HD2600 for performance thin notebooks.

Looking forward to some real numbers. So, is this XT beast going to have 512MB of GDDR4 memory, or what? ; )

And more importantly, is it going to make its way into the 2.4GHz 15" Santa Rosa MBP?

Now, that would be mighty nice :) I hope they put one of those in the new MBP's. I only think you'll never see the XT in there; probably the HD2600 or 2400XT. Probably the 2600XT will run too hot for the MBP enclosure?

I have a GeForce 8800 GTS on my other computer, most of the time Oblivion runs beautifully on it (with everything maxed out @ 1680x1050) - but concidering that even the HD 2900 XT is a tad slower than the 8800 GTS on most games, I seriously doubt the HD 2600 will be that great... if you want decent graphics :p

Audio over HDMI is the only reason to get one that I know of. But some here claim that Apple will most likely support Display Port before HDMI (since their Cinema Displays lack both HDMI and HDCP).

No, they just announced it. They didn't release it. The Radeon HD 2600XT comes in June.

Other than that you can fully see the specifications on AMDs homepage, so I don't know where your "no real information" comes from.

Apple has always underclocked the GPUs in the MBP because of heat issues. I wonder if they will do the same with this new one.

yes, like a said somewhere else, the amount of heat generated is greater than the 8x00 series equivelent. And greater than the X1 series parts.

Yeah the 2900 is available today but not the other parts. Did anyone else notice how they didn't mention OpenGL 2.1 at all in their information on the parts? Nvidia mentioned OGL 2.1 on the 8M product page.

I sit here looking forward to you showing me where on AMD's website it gives official word as to how much and what type of memory each card has, each version of each card, and the different clock and memory speeds.

So, still desperately hoping against hope that Apple somehow has got their hands on 100,000 or so of these Mobility HD 2600 (?XT?) cards, and there are 100,000 or so fully ready Santa Rosa 15" MBPs waiting at Apple HQ ready for orders, starting tomorrow. July is too long to wait.

Does anyone really care about any of that text block above other than a few lines of it? Woo! It has a long list of texture filtering features! What happens if it can only hold 16 MB of textures? What good will 24x CFAA be then?

I wouldn't have a clue how upgrading to the M. HD 2600 will affect the price, I don't know whether it will have 512MB RAM, and I dn't know if that ram will be GDDR4. I seriously doubt it.

My reasoning is that the HD 2900 XT is very cheap compared to its competition, and therefore I am assuming that AMD's other graphics cards will also be comparatively cheap.

If not, we'll probably find a Geforce 8800M GT in there. Or something of the sort.

Not completely true, the HD2900XT is price at about the price of the 8800GTS. And in some test the GTS beats the XT. The GTX and the Ultra are faster parts.

I would be very suprised with Apple if they ever went with an Enthusiast level graphics solution. Apple doesn't strike me as the company that cares that much about graphics.
 
My Bet is on the Nvidia GeForece 8400M GT 512MB going into the Top of the line MBP.
