FYI, if you, like me, really like the concept of Apple Silicon but still rely on 1 or 2 Windows apps, there is some hope with WINE apps like Codeweavers Crossover. I use Quicken for Windows since Quicken for Mac is still a joke. While it does not work on M1 Macs with Big Sur 11.0, it does appear to work on the next beta (Big Sur 11.1) that I just downloaded. The folks at Codeweavers have spent a lot of time and effort at adapting to Catalina dropping 32-bit support, and now the move to Apple Silicon. For now, Rosetta 2 helps keep some Windows programs working.

I am now playing Fallout: New Vegas in a Big Sur 11.2.3 by CrossOver and I can give ****, or an 8 of 10. Specially because this is an old unsupported Macbook Pro. However, I don't know about CrossOver running in a silicon mac. There is still PlayOnMac, but it seems a bit abandoned, won't run as the payed app.

It is no big secret, that Crossover for Mac/WINE is working flawlessly on an x86 Mac.
But on the M1 Mac, well, this is a different story... especially the emulation is slow, I mean very slow, if you want to run x86 Windows or Linux & applications...

This video from the second half of January 2021 shows some games, so you get a picture, what potencially works and what not:

The ARM version in Windows 10 is still in development, that means, running x86 code can be slow or problematic.

But all these videos are from at least 3 Months ago, some things could have been fixed/changed in this time.

I think you can run Crossover on the M1 using Rosetta 2 which will be several times faster than trying to emulate an x86 on QEmu.

I don't know how Wine "runs", how it is compiled, but by what I've read, the result tends to be much better in M1 than x86 because of how RISC optimize the code (or how code is optimized to RISC). I will be in a fast and stable execution of windows software in M1 hardware thought Wine.
Problem is the only real solution is CrossOver and it is payed one. Maybe we can get the source and to compile but this is not a solution for the masses. PlayOnMac is still very amateur. I hope CrossOver keep their prices in reasonable levels so we can start a good worldwide Wine for Big Sur community!

I have used Wine, mainly on Linux, but have tried it on my m1. When it works, it works great, but it doesn't always work. As for Crossover on M1, if you fit a tested scenario, it may work, if you don't, well, maybe, maybe not. It has this really weird container idea that gets in the way of what I wanted to use it for, so I didn't buy it. (I kept getting out of disk space errors on install of the HCL Notes client.) The MacOS client didn't work on my m1, and for a time, I couldn't run it in the WoA VM.
