I installed shapeshifter earlier on my macbook and shortly after it crashed.

Since then I have not managed to reboot, it gets to the blue screen then just blinkers and never gets anywhere. I've done all the normal apple suggested things - is there anything else I can do?

Well, exactly which Apple-suggested things have you done? Can you boot into Safe Mode (hold SHIFT at start up) and remove Shapeshifter from there? :)

boot from an install disk or external hard drive and remove shapeshifter and it's installed components and restart.

Thanks for your suggestion. I did try that and again when on the phone to apple. The problem with that is that when I logged in (in safe mode) it didn't let me and crashed again.

Apple then suggested I do an install. I left them there and got on with it.. only now the computer stays at the grey screen with the wheel spinning.

yes it was. I've managed to get files off it using firewire and another tiger based mac.
Just about to embark on a full re in-stall

Okay, I imagine the Archive & Install would suffice since it replaces all your system files and gives you options on what to carry over from your old Home account. Nevertheless, good luck with the full reinstall. :)
