Has anyone seen any sign of this on the XS max?
All the tech people that got a hands-on at the event didn’t seem to mention horizontal mode at all!?

FaceID is said to be faster than the previous model, nothing about horizontal. You can add two faces though because of iOS 12.

It looks like all the phones at the hands on area were unlocked so they couldn’t even test Face ID at all.

I got a feeling horizontal Face ID is not coming....

Heh, when I had the X I used to try turning my head sideways. No go.

I could find no remarks from even the more thorough reviewers yet indicating horizontal unlock has been enabled yet. It’s kind of crazy how every year many of us preorder and have no idea of the details like that.

If the Xs max doesn’t have horizontal Face ID then I’m sending mine back.
It shouldn’t need extra tech to work, just a scan of the face from different angle due to camera being off to the side.

Using a 7 plus after selling my X and waiting for the new model has really highlighted how poor and frustrating Face ID really was on the X

Go ahead and cancel that order, then... horizontal FaceID would’ve been mentioned in the Keynote.

Turn the phone portrait, or don’t get it.

FaceID works wonderfully, especially on iOS 12. YMMV.

Imagine if they could use something that works horizontally or vertically. Like a fingeprint sensor.

Jack, stop the machines. I think we’re onto something here.

Apple wants apps updated after March 2019 to fully support the Max.

Revamping desktop? isn’t that part of iOS 13?
