Horrendous lag in bluestacks with OS X Sierra

I ran the bluestacks emulator without issue under OS X v10.9 and v10.10 on my 2012 15" Macbook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012). However, ever since upgrading to OS X v10.11 bluestacks has been incredibly laggy -- to the point that it just kind of freezes for 5-7 seconds at a time on the games that I play. Has anyone come across a work around for this. Everything I have found on other blogs and youtube has made no difference whatsoever.
