Posting this in hopes someone has another solution/had something similar happen..

Last Saturday night my phone was stolen. I immediately wiped it and submitted the claim to apple care/AIG. Within a few hours my claim was approved (I also did not know you had to wait for them to ship you the phone, couldn’t just go to the apple store and get a replacement, but ok fine). Since having my claim approved, I have called every day to both apple and AIG because my replacement phone has still not shipped out, apple says it’s on AIG and AIG says it’s apple fulfillment that handles it after they approve the claim. On Thursday I was told I would for sure get tracking info the next day. Here I sit on Saturday still stuck on the claim approved status. I ended up going last Sunday and purchasing the cheapest iPhone 13 to use with intentions on returning it within the return window. Now I am going out of town Thursday so i have to return this phone before then.

Anyone else dealt with this? Any ideas of what else to do? I am at a complete loss and so frustrated by this experience.

It was my understanding that Apple doesn't send you a phone, AIG does.. This is one of the reasons I didn't think it was worth getting coverage under this plan.. AIG like Assurian has mixed reviews on handling situations like this. I'm sure it will get ironed out but it might take a bit.. I'd keep calling and following up as the squeaky wheel gets the grease..

Yeah this is my first time ever doing a claim so I just didn’t know. I just don’t understand how they can think someone can go a week+ without a phone if someone doesn’t have the means to go out and get a temporary replacement.

Because you are thinking like a consumer and not like a company. A company does not share your concern or need, they have their own needs and concerns and those trump yours. It doesn't matter to them what you need/want. Their fulfillment process is designed to benefit them and not you.

Simple as that.

I got apple care on my, wife and granddaughters phone, more for the breakage than a replacement phone. My granddaughter has had the most significant use. broken and cracked screen, battery died and it was worth it. For me and wife, we are careful that way, but dropping it would be the reason for the repair option. I just paid off my 12 pro so I want it around for a while more.

The daughter has an android and we all are on Verizon. Now with verizon, they give you a box to send it away. What you eventually get is a phone, not what you sent in but a refurbished of sorts phone. And that can take weeks while it is being "repaired"

Alway keep an older model of iPhone in a drawer with a mirrored backup - charged and ready to use (via Wi-Fi) at a moment’s notice for situations exactly like this.
Nowadays, a backup iPhone is essential.
Yeah I think I’m just going to keep this 13 for this very reason and no longer get theft and loss on any new phone I get.
