I am expanding my small business and need to get SQL on multiple machines connected to my existing MacPro MySQL database.

I use MySQL workbench and PyCharm (Python) for code and scripting. So I can get MySQL downloaded running and it works fine but I need to access it remotely via my 2014 MBP.

A bunch of people is saying Mac cant do this but I just can't believe Microsoft/Linux has a monopoly on MySQL.

So connecting a 5,1 MacPro to a 2014 MBP remotely.

Guessing this involved Xampp, port forwarding, VPN, ftp, smb or ?

A MacPro is just a computer that follows the same protocols as any other.

Your question would be best addressed to forums that deal with connecting computers to each other remotely, where you will get the required expertise.

That would give you the answers on WHAT needs to be done to run and expose a MySQL instance for remote connection. You can then start looking into HOW to do this on your Mac Pro, which would pretty much be the same as any Unix computer.

Thanks @Dayo , Could you recommend a few forums or keywords that I should be focusing on ? I thought MacRumors being a mac site, mac being the computer I'm using would be the place to look. Is there a subthread I need to visit or?

i would recommend a hosting company for that. Have a look at hostgator.com or pair.com
