Sarcasmville.
I've searched all over the interweb but all I've managed to find is a few scraps of info on open source, sendmail and some tutorials on system older than panther.

I'm quite sure it can be done (it is a built in feature on X Server), but how could I go about starting a mail server on my mac? So all I need is a mac and a router and I have a fairly decent upstream internet connection (~80kB/s)? What software (that you guys recommend) is there to install or what configs do I have to mess around with?

Also, is there a webmail solution? I know of Horde but it's not the prettiest looking webmail GUI I've seen. Any others?

I guess this goes hand in hand with hosting my own web server (just personal sites). But is enabling webdav on this server (and using it for some related iPhoto/iCal hosting) against any sort terms of use?

Cheers.

why not buy leopard server when it ships this weekend? i know it's kinda expensive, but it might worth learning. i might be buying it, and it's just for personal stuff, but i would like to learn mac os x server

If only I had that kind of money to throw around, I would probably have a franken 8core mac to go with it. Maybe someday...would be great if they offered a trial versin of Leopard Server (Steve, are you listening ).

I'll give the postfix thing a go, but for the time being, I'll just keep going with my current webhost,

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried the Gmail for your Domain? Well, the free standard one obviously. Is it any different from the standard gmail? I was considering going down this path for mail and using my home server just for webserving?

Good combination?
