I'm only asking cuz a friend of mine knows a guy who knows a guy (isn't that always the case?)

I've already purchased one from ATT store, and activated it and love it!

But what about my friend who might be getting his hands on some hot iphones? You think it's possible that ATT or Apple can track that down?

Haha, silly question. But I just had to ask.

Let me guess -- the "friend" is actually you, and you're wondering if your stolen iPhone will be trackable? ;)

By hot you mean.. stolen? if you mean stolen then yes Apple and ATT can track you because every phone has a IMEI serial.

Yes its trackable - the sim cards are tied to the phone.

It is hard to think of anything that would be more trackable.

If you must get yourself in the stolen iPhone loop, you want to be the guy who takes the phone and resells it without using it or opening it.

Not the poor dumb guy who activates and/or uses it.

Nope, not traceable at all.

So did Apple let you exchange??

Yes they did. It had actually been crashing before I dropped it. Not the usual Safari crashing, but the actual phone freezing up. And other times, it would ask me randomly to enter in my visual voicemail password.

They gave me a new one after I told them that.

Use the reasons I gave you, and they won't even think twice about giving you a new one. You have til Friday if you bought it on iDay like I did.
