Hotmail with mail- Help Help Help please !

I have tried for 2 hours to fix this

Connections to the server “smtp.live.com” on the default ports timed out.

Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.

Sending from: **** <***@hotmail.com>

Has anyone got a fix for this error please?
