I have a photo sitting on my desktop.

How do I get it into my iCloud Photo Library?

Thanks

Email it to yourself and open the email on your iPhone and save it to your Camera Roll.

I suspect this will be easier once Photos for OS X is released.

Thanks! I oversimplified the question, as I was really trying to find the way to put a several hundred photos from my Mac onto iCloud Photo Lib.

I was hoping there would be a better way than emailing them to myself, which certainly works.

I suspect you may be right, that the new Photos app is the answer.

Anyone know if there's a beta for developers etc. for the photo app yet?

There is an app called Rollit which allows you to upload all your pictures via the iTunes. It works great for me, I uploaded several thousand pictures in that way

Thanks for that...very useful, although it failed first time because I added a folder of images in iTunes instead of adding the image files directly.
