I just made the big push and updated to IOS12 and Itunes 12, how are people dealing with not syncing the apps anymore with APPLES STUPID decision.

Do you really need to deleted and re-install each time? and lose all your saved data in the game.

I know people are very smart and even Hackers create things, just wondering how to fix everything. Don't want to use IOS8.4 anymore and Itunes 11.4.

thanks

Your data is stored in the backup. Upon restoring the data, the app will download via the App Store.

Why don't u use iTunes 12.6.5? it's great and everything works as it was.

I already tried last night and was told I needed Itunes 12.9 for IOS 12, Nothing but a nightmare doing this update. It bricked my ipad then restored it.

I use iCloud like I have since it’s inception.

Any how to's? never heard you can sync the apps via the cloud

I haven’t hooked my phone to my laptop in probably 5 years. Heck I don’t even know the last time I turned the laptop on.

iCloud backup is your friend.

Use iCloud backups (or local) and instead of deleting apps you want to keep saves for "offload" them and you'll only have the documents data for the app on your phone still (shouldn't be more than a small chunk of MB for most things). That's the way apple intends for it to work. Also a lot of apps/games do have the option to sync their data to the cloud, "Pocket Morty" for example.

I use the same and it works great. The only problem that happens is that I get a message that Apple updated iTunes
without me knowing. I then have to reinstall 12.6.5 and replace my iTunes library. I backup it up all the time just in case.

If IOS 12 is going to demand iTunes 12.9, then there will be NO IOS 12 for me just now.

It never happened to me, so far... but Apple doesn't have the automatic permission to update my apps without asking me first.
Don't keep checked
Download newly available updates in the background
I Only have
Install system data files and security updates checked
Plus I keep my iTunes library on an external disk because I needed space on my computer
and I connect it only when I need it

Did you delete your apps before updating? Why would you do that? All you need to do is click the update button in Settings.

Not really sure if I still have all my unused apps since I can't see them in Ituens, I followed the steps last night and then read about downgrading and deleted everything in the uninstaller.

Only to find out 12.6 doesn't support IOS12

Finally after getting Itunes 12 it was ready to update my Ipad air 8.4 and froze and bricked the Ipad.

It restored everything and the second attempt worked.

I can see how upgrading from iOS 8 to iOS 12 could run into problems. What happened to you, though, is far from ordinary.

I deal with it by, when I'm doing a restore from backup, waiting for 45 minutes or so for my apps to download.

The process would be a LOT faster if apps would come in a few more than three at a time. When the three are all downloaded but still "installing" there's nothing downloading...prolonging the process unnecessarily.

Settings-><Click your name>->iCloud->iCloud Backup->On

Then when you setup a new phone, it will ask if your want to restore from an iCloud backup. Select yes, then that's it, the new phone will download everything from iCloud and it will have everything exactly like it was on your old phone.

Its been *years* (and I upgrade every year) since I've connected an iPhone or iPad to iTunes.

Edit: You can *also* use iTunes to do a backup and then restore it to the new phone. All your app data will be there (and saved passwords too if you do an encrypted backup). There's no need to re-install everything, it happens automatically.

I stopped caring. I was reluctant to give up having my apps in iTunes, because it makes restoring much faster, but to be honest, ever since the delta updates broke the syncing of the most up-to-date version of the app from syncing across devices, it became a hassle anyways. It stinks to have to wait for apps to re-download, but the data itself is fine, so no big deal I suppose.

I only miss it because it was quicker to arrange your home screen, because you could see the category an app was it was easier to arrange them and group them.
