How are UK Orange customers finding reception?

Hi, just wondered how the new UK Orange customers are finding reception on the Orange network? I still have pretty poor coverage with O2 with my 3GS as I've had since buying the original iPhone. Still get lots of signal drops and "searching" and wondered if Orange really was better. Also, is their 3g coverage as good using the iPhone as they claim?

I have been using O2 on contract and decided to give Orange ago - this time on PAYG.

In terms of reception, I've had a few dropped calls in the last few days - I work right next to the O2 dome so understandably, I had better reception with O2. I am also missing visual voicemail, hopefully that comes soon.

I have a negative experience with my PAYG account in that when I purchased the phone from the Orange store, I wasn't told that I needed to wait for a text message for before my free 250MB/month was applied. I started using the phone start away and used up almost £20 of credit - only using 2-3 MB. I've rung customer services and they are looking at it for me so hopefully I'll be reimbursed.

On a positive note, the network feels snappier - lower latency and faster downloads.
 
I was just in London using Orange PAYG and I had excellent service except for my hotel room which seemed to be a black hole for reception from all the networks. I didn't travel too far out, mostly in Central London. 3G was quite fast, no dropped calls. But then again, I was only there for a week and can't compare to any of the other networks since I've never used O2, 3 or Vodacom.
 
A bit anecdotal, but my signal seems better on my orange iPhone than it was on my orange E71 ... not that it helps you at all!
 
Really Bad Signal.

I'm on Orange and I live on the Isle of Wight and I find the signal is rubbish :(. And the only place I do get signal is over the East the North And the South side of the Island and I live in the middle. :mad:
 
I switched from O2 to Orange, due to O2's crap 3G coverage.

I do have better 3G coverage on Orange, especially at home, which is handy. Unfortunately, I've noticed that Orange's 2G coverage is awful compared to O2. I could get signal in many more places on O2, and also, Orange's signal, doesn't seem to penetrate buildings as well as O2.

eg, I can have FULL 3G signal outside this old building I regularly go in, but inside, Orange doesn't get ANY signal, whilst O2, gets 2 bars of 2G signal (enough to text and call with). Whether it's down to the GSM band, I'm unsure.

I'm kindas the same in my home using 16gb 3G iPhone, upstairs I can get a good signal bar strength but my iPhone tends to be on gprs more than 3G and if I go downstairs I get no signal at all. SO stuck an O2 sim in (iPhone was unlocked by O2) and it finds 3G ALOT quicker and connects to O2 quicker too and even downstairs I can get about 3 bars and 3G...... this has been persuading me to switch to O2 come new iPhone release (which coinsides with my upgrade time :D).
 
I'm from the south and am on O2 and get good general 3G reception. Recently my mum jacked in her BB and went with Orange after being sucked in by the sales assistant about how much Orange have improved their network. She lives less than a mile from me and so far hasn't even been able to get an Edge connection, in fact it was the first time i have seen the word 'searching' on the screen where the signal bars should be.
The same holds true for my friend who lives less than a mile from me in the opposite direction, phoning either of these people, for me, is a very frustrating experience. I would have to conclude from this that in my area at least Orange blows.
 
I am with o2 and i get only GPRS but our village can get 3G with orange so ill probably switch to them when the next iPhone comes out.
