auto-brightness saves battery by dimming the screen when a bright screen isn’t needed (for example when you are in a dark room). Auto-brightness generally works fine, and does save some battery in most situations.

Ambient light sensor which is responsible for such operation does consume battery life. if so than how much mAh

Light sensors generate electricity from photons which excite charge carriers into the conduction band from the valence band. They produce electricity, they don’t consume it.
