First, I don't expect any sympathy on this from you all. I'm just posting with a slight hope that someone from Apple might see this, and because I want to vent.

Our corporate email is on an Exchange server and our MDM is configured only for the native Mail app. Since iOS 13.0, everything conceivable has gone wrong. Banners, sounds, delays in downloading message bodies, emails not deleting, and most recently emails not showing up in the Mail app at all, even with a refresh or a restart. I've tried everything imaginable, including repeatedly deleting and reinstalling the profile, deleting the Mail app, reinstalling iOS, setting up as new, you name it.

I guess writing code for new products like the Beats headphones and selling services like TV+, Music and News are all more important than a core app like Mail.

I. Give. F******. Up. Hey, Apple, if you're reading this, I'm putting my 11 Pro Max back in the box and maybe on Swappa. I just bought a XS Pro, just like the one I had until the 11 Pro launched. It's got 12.4.1 installed and it will work, unlike the bug-ridden train wreck that you're calling iOS 13. Great job, :apple: - and thanks. It's been real, and it's been nice, but it ain't been real nice.

Your corporate IT is incompetent.

Microsoft highly recommends you use Outlook Mobile with Exchange Server. There's no reason not to use that as at least an option, particularly since it supports more manageability features than the native Mail app.

Do they use Outlook on desktop? Basically, they're locking out Outlook and forcing you to use Windows Mail.

What kind of answer is that? Yeah sure Outlook Mobile might solve the mail issues - by not using the built in mail app - you know the one Apple wants you to use and is default to all mail links - regardless of what you do....

I’m with the OP here. Apple SERIOUSLY F****** up on this one with IOS 13. I to use Exchange and the IOS 13 Mail app is the worst pile of crap software I have ever tried as supposedly release worthy.

It's better than complaints on a random internet forum about it that falls upon deaf ears. It's trying to at least find SOME solution to the problem. The only links that wont work is mailto and you can just copy and paste honestly, its a few seconds extra. Any weblinks can use the hare sheet into outlook.

Yes there is a problem. Yes people have reported it in the beta feedback app, I can see all of these major issues as open. And yes I am seeing them too (check my post history, Ive been forced to move to the Outlook app; although I dont have a MDM restriction at play)

Until Apple fixes them there is nothing we can do other than find viable workaround solutions. There is no way to force Apple to fix it; they clearly are aware from the feedback app of the issues and how many are seeing it.

Threatening to sell a device that Apple already got its sale and money from to buy another Apple product isnt showing them anything either.

never mind whats best practice in Microsoft's eyes, thats a logistical nightmare to re-train users to use some app vs the native mail app. I don't think its the fault of the IT department at all.

that seems like a serious requirement, having MDM require native mail app. Apple does appear to have not cared or considered that. But messing up the native mail app as bad as people have said they have, is inexcusable. its such a fundamental app

Because Microsoft knows that third-party Exchange clients have spotty support. It's a very complicated platform with lots of legacy stuff. It's not just Apple, but Android has a mix of OEM (e.g. Samsung) and native mail clients that have issues and missing features.

It's even more important on Office 365 where Microsoft frequently makes changes that break 3rd party clients.

That's why Microsoft has said, if you don't want things to break, use first-party clients.

The problem is that it's going to be even worse with the discrepancy between native and Outlook web/desktop. Take Focused Inbox, for example. You have Focused Inbox on Web, on Desktop, on Outlook Mobile, and you go to Apple and it doesn't exist.

You can scream all you want about native support, but the simple fact is that with Microsoft changes (Office 365, all the AI features, new protocol replacing EAS, modern auth/manageability), and Apple's neglect, native support is only going to get worse.

Not the first time Exchange and iOS broke either. I specifically remember 11.0.1 fixing an exchange break

iOS Mail wont ever replace a native client fully in features or compatibility. It's meant to bring email basic functions to the device.

The same way you wont see Gmail have proper/full labels, IMAP IDLE, send later, or other functions the native app allows (or Android)
