Mine's about 70k photos and some videos, approaching 400GB. I don't use another program to organize my photos, but probably should. (The last time I tried to use lightroom I lost lots of data migrating my library to it, and I found the UI choppy)

Curious how big your libraries are and if you use other programs to manage them.

I really find iCloud Photo Library and Photos to be very convenient. OTOH because of the lock-in effect, I find it very hard to switch to something else.

My iCloud library is just shy of 50k items and around 700GB. I previously only kept a recent subset of my photos in the iCloud library, but last year amalgamated everything into the one library. It’s very nice having all my photos in one place and accessible everywhere, and it’s been dead reliable. I occasionally export originals to edit or stitch panoramas etc in Affinity Photo, but then import the finished product back to Photos, so there isn’t any ”other place” to go to browse certain images.

I use photos for my personal snaps and daily life stuff. It’s very convenient and works extremely well.

I use LR libraries and Capture one sessions for my professional work, they’re both infinitely better if you need to have full control. Plus, it would be a massive mess and a huge iCloud file if I put my pro work in with my personal stuff.

I shared with my family a 200gb iCloud+ Family Plan. In my account my photo library counts for 79gb of storage, mainly composed of photos and only very few of them are videos. I regularly delete useless photos from time to time to ensure my photo library size is kept minimum.

Isn’t Bridge an Adobe Product that requires a subscription with their other products before you can have access to and use Bridge? If so, - Thanks but no thanks… Anything and everything by Adobe in my collection of tools is being replaced by much less expensive options… and often times much better than what Adobe product thats being replaced… IMHO, anyone still stuck on an Adobe product should explore their options and stop supporting their greed.

I moved here from Google Photos back in 2019 I think. Never looked back. Apple has been doing a good job managing this so, for now and the foreseeable future, it has my business.

I used to have over 120k but I spent years deleting the duplicates (from my Google Photos transfer) and bad photos. Pretty happy with my library the way it is.

Are you just trolling any thread that mentions Adobe? It’s the third you’re in offering unsolicited ’advice’.
Adobe products are very good and some people like using them and don’t mind the minimal monthly payments, so try and stay on topic instead.

By that logic, none of us should buy Apple products to stop supporting Apple's greed.

I understand why some people prefer to use not-Adobe, but many of us have a workflow that we have refined over a number of years. Switching brands isn't as easy as just ditching Adobe. Adobe has products that work for me at a price point I am willing to pay.

Yes, Bridge is a product from the satanic Adobe . It's also free (!!) .It's also a program I've been using since well before all the subscription nonsense . As of right now , no subscription . But the free version is somewhat gimped re:the one that you pay for . That's not a big deal for me as I only need it to catalog things. So long as it remains free , and I can link to the programs I use (Affinity , PSE and DxO), can't see any reason to switch.
