Been using my 16" M1 Max MBP for a year and half now, and not planning an upgrade for at least a few years. This unit seems to handle my workload really well. That being said, I can monitor the CPU and RAM usage accurately, but I'm unclear on how much of that M1 Max GPU I'm using. I just want to know if I'm actually benefiting from the extra GPU cores. Is there a way to see how many and how much of each GPU core are being used at any given moment? I know I use about 40-50% CPU and 50% RAM 8-10 hours a day mon-fri, but if I'm not using all those GPU cores, I can probably go with a "Pro" model next time around instead of "Max".

As far as I know we're not able to see each individual GPU cores, only as a whole. If your using 50% gpu then my guess would be your using 16 cores in some way or another.

Activity monitor is the easiest way to see how much you're using but I use menubar stats and I have done for years.

How do I view what percentage of total GPU I'm using?

This is menubar stats and it tells you what percentage you're using and what not.
