How can I add Ctrl-based keyboard shortcuts for the [ and ] keys?

I've been playing with the idea of mapping all of the keys to the right of the P in a QWERTY keyboard to some kind of modifier key, preferably Ctrl on my Mac.

How can I add shortcuts such as `Ctrl-u` and `Ctrl-i` to [ and ], respectively?

Looking around, I haven't found a good way to do that. Would love any suggestions

I use the built-in hidutil command (run via a LaunchAgent) to remap CapsLock to F16 OS-wide: https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/technotes/tn2450/_index.html

Pretty sure it only supports 1:1 remappings though, so no combining with modifier keys on either side of the equation.

You will most likely need third party software to get the result you want.

I'm open to 3rd party software here. FWIW I've remapped my capslock to control for better ergonomics
