To further clarify it is a CD burned from a diagnostics lab that has X-rays and Mri's on it but in mac I can only see files that won't open. (.htm .exe .txt .DB .SCC for examples) is there a program I can run it through or do I have to only look at it on a *shudder* PC.

What is in the IMAGES folder? What does the Readme say? Will the .htm files open in Safari? You could try File Juicer to extract the contents of the .exe but i imagine all the files you need are there in one of the folders... unless they need a special application to be viewed properly, in which case, yeah, windows.
