Basically going from 4 core to 6 soon. I am going to sell this one but don't know how to clear the HD with everything already backed up. Any advice would be great! Thanks!
From 6,1 4-core to 6-core? does not (usually) require buying a whole new computer, the processor can be upgraded.
As for securely erasing an SSD, don't. You can format it as all free space.
I can just upgrade the cores on my own from the 4 core? Are you sure? Because me personally, i'd screw it up haha
I had no clue, even though seeing a tutorial i'd probably screw this whole thing up costing me 3 grandYes, the cpu in your 6,1 is in a socket. You can upgrade it to a 6, 8, 10, or 12 core. You do not need to buy another mac pro.
Hold down Alt at boot
Select Recovery HD
Select Disk Utility
Wipe 'Macintosh HD'
Reinstall OS X
TRIM has now securely erased your hard drive![]()

Recovery Mode is not going to wipe out the partitions like the Recovery partition you are using.
Your USB flash installer that you make and is bootable will though. No?
