I agree with redscull - I'm a big fan of tabbed browsing, but showing literal "tabs" is a waste of vertical space. I'm a big fan of the OmniWeb browser on my Mac because it uses a vertical tab bar along the edge of the window, with little icons of each page. (Opera can do the same thing, and while it's great on Windows, it's still kind of a mess on the Mac.) It's annoying whenever I have to use anther browser which insists on showing a horizontal tab bar - and now Safari is doing that? Damn damn damn damn damn. I suppose it's more user friendly for n00bs, but I wish they would have given us the option to continue using the older method for managing tabs if we prefer it, which I certainly did (though having the ability to have more than nine tabs open would have been a nice addition as well).
Oh well. Maybe it's time to investigate some alternative browsers. Though it seemed to me that most such browser prominently advertised an always-visible horizontal tab bar as a selling point… Damn.
